Rebranding Blue Cube – Thinking Outside of the Box
Last year, thanks to the awesome power of referral, we were introduced to Blue Cube Corporate Travel Management - a corporate travel consultancy based in Surrey, with offices in London, Glasgow and Accra in Ghana.
The directors at Blue Cube were keen to refresh the company’s brand after agreeing that their existing brand had become somewhat dated and no longer reflected the quality of the service they provided to multiple, million-pound accounts.
They were looking for a new brand that would assure potential new clients of the quality inherent in the company whilst remaining approachable and friendly.
Neil Fraser is a Director at Blue Cube, “We were introduced to Silver Bullet after being underwhelmed with the lack of quality and creativity on offer from several design agencies in and around London. Being an exiled native of the North East, I was keen to see what Silver Bullet might be able to offer.”
“After several discussions by phone followed up with a personal visit from Kerry and Vic to our office in Richmond upon Thames, it became clear that this was the organisation to confidently and enthusiastically lead us through the maze of considerations in front of us when embarking upon the creation of a new brand identity and successfully transferring that to a new website, brochure, stationery et al.”
Following the creation of the new branding, we needed to furnish the business with a full suite of marketing materials from corporate literature and stationery, to a new website which would replace a site entirely built in flash.
The team at Blue Cube explained that they had this website as they knew they needed a web presence, and as most of their new business was a result of referral and word of mouth that they’d never felt the need to use it as a marketing tool.
However in an uncertain economy it was agreed by the directors of the company that a more proactive approach to business development was required and this included creating a brand that would instill trust in business directors - combatting the same economical uncertainties – who are more conscious of corporate travel budgets than ever before.
The challenge we faced as an agency was realising the brand that Blue Cube envisioned for their consultancy when their idea for the end result was intangible and likely to change as we explored different design concepts.
Additionally with a name like Blue Cube, which instantly conjures up images of blue cubes, we had to think laterally to create visuals that reflected the values of the company as opposed to its name.
Neil explained, “It was a long process as we had exacting demands. We made many changes along the way but never once did Silver Bullet flinch (well, they certainly hid it well). Kerry was constantly available when we needed to make changes or simply to ask a question.”
In the end, we came up with a clean, concise and classy brand that was effective in conveying the quality of Blue Cube as a consultancy, and graphic designer at Silver Bullet, Victoria Borrowdale thinks the project was a great success, “We took an unusual approach to developing the brand for Blue Cube as we didn’t have a detailed brief to start off with, instead we worked on various concepts based on the idea that the company is professional and corporate without being off-putting. It needed to be inclusive but still have a look of quality. They wanted to look reassuringly expensive.”
“Straight away we threw away any imagery of people in suits or on laptops at airports as it was important for Blue Cube to stand out from their competitors.”
“I also chose a much warmer colour palette than the usual blues and greys people generally associate with corporate marketing – this was more of a challenge than it seems given the name of the company but the end result is an inviting and classy brand which speaks volumes about Blue Cube and the service they provide.”
We love creating brands from scratch, the challenge of visualising something that has only existed inside a clients head is genuinely exciting and to be able to create a full suite of marketing materials to complement the brand and bring it to life is a fulfilling process for an agency – we’re looking forward to seeing the continued success ahead of Blue Cube and can’t wait to hear all about their increased clientele as a result of their marketing efforts.
Best of all, we have a happy customer:
“The finished article was a triumph. We could not have been more delighted with our new brand and the quality and look of the website. Silver Bullet absolutely nailed it. When we saw it all for the first time it was clear that they had been able to turn our thoughts into reality without us actually being able to explain how it should look. It was like seeing what we’d been imagining, for the first time.”
